First Hawaii Home

My name is Neal and this website is dedicated to my arduous journey of purchasing my first home in Hawaii. For those who aren’t familiar with Hawaii’s housing market, real state here in the islands (most notably Oahu) are some of the most expensive properties in the nation. Single family homes average over $600,000 while condos in Honolulu push close to $400,000 and prices continue to climb at a steady rate year after year. To make things worst, jobs in Hawaii don’t pay very well as they do in comparable areas such as San Francisco, New York, and Los Angeles for instance and because we have everything shipped here by air or boat, our cost of living in Hawaii is through the roof! To make things simple, this is a difficult place to own a home. Through all of these odds and struggles, I will own a piece of property here in Hawaii in the next year and this is where I’ll be documenting my difficult yet interesting journey. I hope I can help other new home buyers find their first property too!
